CLINTON, Miss. -- The Mississippi College Choctaws went down to the wire with Delta State Saturday afternoon inside GSC play, falling short 67-63 in the final seconds.
With MC trailing 64-63 with under 10 seconds left and the shot clock down to the last second for the Statesmen, a last second three pointer found the net to put DSU ahead by four as the Choctaws took over with only six seconds left to go
The Choctaws performance came up just short in what was a hard fought contest from the beginning of tip-off to the final whistle. The loss was MC's second of the season to Delta State, with the first coming back on January 2 in a close 72-66 game.
Tonight, MC finished 27-of-61 from the field and were led by
Galen Smith with 18 points. Smith totaled seven rebounds, one blocked shot, and one steal.
Antonio Cowart Jr. had 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor including a team best eight rebounds on the night. Cowart also led MC with two blocked shots.
Winford Ross had a stellar night with 10 points and seven rebounds while
Miles Miller led the way with five total assists.Â
MC fell to 4-15 overall on the season and 2-11 GSC play. They return to the court on Thursday with a road trip to Christian Brothers with tip-off beginning at 7 p.m.Â
