Choctaws Season Finale Ends With Loss to West Alabama

LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- The Mississippi College Choctaws capped off the 2022 season on the road, falling to West Alabama by a final score of 65-43 in GSC play.

The Choctaws jumped out to an early lead in the first five minutes of action, leading by seven, 12-5. Yet the Tigers went on a 33-5 run over the remainder of the half, taking a 38-17 lead into the break.

West Alabama and the Choctaws produced nearly the same amount of offense in the second half, with UWA outscoring MC 27-26, on their way to a 65-43 win over Mississippi College.

MC was led by Galen Smith, who finished with 25 points on the afternoon with six rebounds in 28 minutes on the floor. Miles Miller had a team best nine assists while also recording four rebounds and two steals.

Mississippi College shot 17-of-43 from the field in the game with 32 points in paint. Mississippi College wraps up the 2022 season with a record of 7-19 overall and 5-15 in Gulf South Conference play.

MC recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and began competing for conference and national championships in the 2016-17 academic year.
