Clinton, Miss. – The Mississippi College home slate came to a close on Monday night falling to Lee by a final score of 72-55 in GSC play.
The Choctaws kept it close in the first half of play, trailing by three points at the break, 28-25. The Choctaws started off the second half with a 7-2 run, picking up their first lead since earely in the first half, taking a 31-30 lead on a Winford Ross layup with 18:41 on the clock.
Lee scored the next seven point, taking a 37-32 lead, as the Flames continued to shoot well from the floor, carrying that momentum halfway through the second half and to extend their lead to 52-42 with 10 minutes remaining.
Lee remained in control for the remainder of the contest, outscoring MC 44-30 in the second half, on their way to winning by a final score of 72-55.
The Choctaws shot 22-59 from the floor with Winford Ross leading the Choctaws with a double-double -- 13 points and 10 rebounds. Galen Smith was 8-14 from the field with 20 points and six rebounds, while Antonio Cowart, Jr. also contributed with 10 rebounds. Miles Miller led the team in assists with 6 on the night.
MC outscored the Flames in the paint 36-32. The Choctaws were a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line but could not make many three pointers late. MC finishes their home schedule with a record of 7-17 overall and 5-13 in GSC play.
The Choctaws return to action on Thursday with an away matchup set for 7:30 p.m. at UAH in Huntsville, Ala.
