CLINTON, Miss. — Making their return to the home court, the Mississippi College Choctaws faced the West Alabama Tigers in a stunning competition that saw them fall short 69-59.
The Choctaws and Tigers battled through the first 10 minutes where it was West Alabama that led 17-11 at the 9:31 mark of the first half and MC was led by Anthony Ratliff, Jr with four points while combining for 29.4% from the field.
The half ended on an 18-8 UWA run with the Choctaws shooting 30% and Ratliff, Jr with six points and two rebounds.
The second half with the Choctaws coming out strong on an 8-0 run behind big shots from Tradavis Thompson, but UWA answered back with eight points of their own pushing the lead to 43-27 with 15:20 remaining in regulation.
The Choctaws fought back, but in the end the Tigers claimed victory by a 10-point margin. MC was led by Tradavis Thompson with 22 points the night after shooting 24-of-62 from the field as a team. The Choctaws fall to 6-4 overall and 3-4 in GSC play after Friday night's loss to the Tigers.
The Choctaws return to action Sunday December 11 for a 4 pm tip-off with the UAH Chargers.
