Thompson Breaks Single Game School Record With Nine Made 3-Pointers in 92-62 Win

CLINTON, Miss. —- Mississippi College handed UAH a 30 point loss on Sunday evening, defeating the Chargers by a final score of 92-62 behind a career night from Tradavis Thompson.

Thompson was lights out on the night, breaking the school record for most three-pointers made in a game with nine made three point shots, while also knocking down a career-high and a 2022-23 Gulf South Conference season best 47 points in the win.

Behind Thompson's stellar shooting on the night, Mississippi College shot 37-of-59 for 62.7 percent from the floor, while also connecting on 12 made three-point shots.

In the first half of play, tied up at 10-10 with 15:33 to go in the half, MC went on a 14-2 run over the next three minutes to take a 24-12 lead over the Chargers. The next seven minutes was an offensive showing for the Choctaws, continuing an impressive run of 18-5 as MC extended their lead to 42-17 with four minutes remaining in the period.

The Blue and Gold closed out the first half leading by 20 points with a score of 46–26.  In the second half, Mississippi College went ahead by 29 points with 8:50 remaining in the contest on a Tradavis Thompson three-point made shot that gave MC the 73–44 lead. With 5:08 remaining in the game and leading 82-58, Thompson knocked down his ninth three-point made shot of the game, making him the school record holder for most three-point made shots in a single contest.

Mississippi College notched a three-point bucket from Ankerion Gross with under a minute remaining, as the Choctaws went on to win by a final score of 92-62 over the Chargers.

Thompson led MC with a career-high and GSC season best 47 points on 18-of-28 shooting from the field while knocking 9-of-13 three-point shots. Thompson also recorded five rebounds, one steal, and two assists in 37 minutes of action.

Anthony Ratliff Jr. and Justin Reid each provided 10 points each in the win. Ratliff had a team-best three steals while Reid tied Ratliff with one block. Bee McCrary had four assists and four rebounds to go along with nine points on the night.

Miles Miller had nine assists in the game including five rebounds in 33 minutes of action. James Franklin logged 32 minutes on the court  while providing a game best 11 rebounds.

MC improved to 7–4 overall on the season with the win and 4–4 in Gulf South Conference play. The Choctaws return to action on Friday, December 16 where they will take on Shorter on the road in Rome, Ga. The Hawks and Choctaws will tip-off beginning at 6:30 p.m.
