MONTGOMERY, Ala. —- Mississippi College came up short on Sunday evening to Auburn Montgomery by final score of 79-74 in Gulf South Conference play.
The two teams went back-and-forth for the full 40 minutes of the contest as Mississippi College outscores AUM in the first half by four points by a score of 39-35.
In the second half of the contest, the Choctaws extended their lead to eight points with 17:17 to go in the game, on a Darius Clark free throw, to lead 48-40.
The Warhawks were able to go on a 17-9 run over the next eight minutes, tying the game up at 57-57 with 9:32 left in regulation.
Over the next eight minutes, both teams remained within four points of each other, as a
Paul Smith layup with 1:56 remaining put the Choctaws up at 74-70.
The final two minutes went in the direction of a AUM, as the Warhawks went on a 9-0 run, capping off the contest with two made free throws, as the Choctaws went on the fall by final score of 79-74.
With the loss the Choctaws fall to 6-3 overall on the season and 3-3 in Gulf South Conference play.
Mississippi College had four scorers with double digit points and were led by
Tradavis Thompson with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting in 39 minutes.
Miles Miller totaled 39 minutes, leading MC with seven assists, two steals, and knocking down 16 points.
Anthony Ratliff Jr. was 5-of-7 from the field with five rebounds and 12 points on the night.
Galen Smith totaled 10 points while bringing in four rebounds in just 18 minutes of action.
MC finished 28-of-56 from the floor including 46 points in the paint and 18 points scored off of the bench.
MC returns to action on Friday, December 9 where they will host West Alabama at home beginning at 7:30 PM at the A.E. Wood Coliseum in Clinton, Miss.
