LIVINGSTON, Ala. —- Mississippi College started off the 2022 season Friday night defeating Albany State by a final score of 80–50 in convincing fashion to start off 1–0 on the season.

In the first half of play, MC opened up the first 10 minutes of action leading 13-12 before going on a 12-2 run to take a 24-13 lead over  the Golden Rams.

Mississippi College continued to dominate the first half of play taking a 36-23 into the break. The Choctaws began the second half taking a 20 point lead just three minutes into contest, before jumping out to a 25 point lead, 51–26, with 16:14 left to play.

Midway through the half, the Choctaws took a 30-point lead on a Paul Smith jumper inside the paint with 9:06 remaining, before continuing a 12-2 run as MC extended their lead to 36 points, 76-43.

MC went on to dominate the remainder of the half, winning by final score of 80–50 over the Golden Rams to start off the year 1-0.

Mississippi College was led by Tradavis Thompson who finished 7-of-13 from the field with 20 points in 26 minutes of play. Thompson also had three assists in the contest.

Galen Smith was 8-of-9 from the floor with nine rebounds and second on the team with 16-points scored. Smith also had four assists in 20 minutes of action.

Miles Miller played a game high 27 minutes, collecting nine rebounds, four assists, two steals, and six points. Blayton Williams added nine points in 24 minutes, with four assists, and three rebounds.

As a team MC was 32-of-67 for 47.8% from the field. MC had 34 points in the paint, 16 fast break points, 19 points off of turnovers, and 30 points off of the bench.

MC returns to action on Sunday versus Central State, beginning with a 1 p.m. tip off time in Livingston, Alabama at Pruitt Hall on the campus of West Alabama.
