Five Score Double Digit Points in 90-68 Win Over Central State

LIVINGSTON, Ala. --- Mississippi College started off the season 2-0 after defeating Central State on Sunday afternoon, winning by a final score of 90-68 to complete the GSC-SIAC Tournament undefeated. 

MC was clicking on all cylinders right out of the gate, jumping out to a 9-0 lead in the first two minutes of action. The next eight minutes of the first half had the Choctaws cruising, as they continued to pile on the lead with a 17-5 run to take a 26-5 advantage midway through the first half. 

The Choctaws entered the break leading 51-27, claiming a 24-point lead. In the second half of play, Central State outscored MC 41-39 but MC would go on to win the contest in convincing fashion, defeating CSU by a final score of 90-68.

Mississippi College had five players score in double digits on the night with Tradavis Thompson pacing the way with 22 total points. Thompson was 9-of-15 from the floor with four rebounds and four steals.

Galen Smith tallied his first double-double of the season, finishing with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Smith also led MC with two blocked shots in the win. 

Ankerion Gross led the Choctaws with four three-point shots made, finishing with 14 points on the night. Gross also had two steals and one block. 

Miles Miller and Blayton Williams each finished with 10 points in the contest, combining to go 7-of-11 from the field.

As a team, MC was 35-of-63 from the field and 8-of-15 from three-point range. MC finished with 48 points in the paint and had 23 points off of the bench.

The Choctaws start off the season 2-0 and will took to keep the win streak going on Thursday at Union. The two teams go head to head beginning with a 7:30 tip-off at Union in Jackson, Tenn.
