PENSACOLA, Fla. -- The Mississippi College (4-9, 2-5 GSC) Choctaws fell to West Florida (13-3, 7-2 GSC) Thursday night on the road in Gulf South Conference play by a final score of 72-62.
The Choctaws managed to put up 26 points in the first half as they went into the break trailing 33-26 to the Argos.
Tradavis Thompson led MC at the break in scoring with 12 points.Â
In the second half of the contest, both teams turned up the volume offensively, yet UWF would go onto outscore the Choctaws 39-36 in the half on their way to winning by a final of 72-62.
MC was led by Thompson who tallied a season-high 28 points on the night on 9-of-18. Thompson finished with a game high three 3-pointers made and was 7-of-9 from the free throw line.Â
Lamont Berzat had eight points for the Choctaws along with three steals and a team-best six assists in the loss.
Jacob Taylor had a stellar night offensively with seven points, four rebounds and three steals.
Zach Jones and
Galen Smith each collected six points, with Jones finishing with six rebounds and Smith with seven rebounds.Â
As a team, MC was 22-of-60 from the field with 30 points in the paint and 15 points off of the bench. Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday at Valdosta State. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. in Valdosta, Ga.
