HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lee jumped out to an early 6-1 lead in the opening set. MC climbed back into the match to cut the deficit to 9-6 and then responded with a 7-1 run to take the lead at 12-10. The Flames broke serve to pull within 13-11, but the Choctaws answered again with an 11-1 run, including nine straight points to double up the visitors from Cleveland, Tenn., 24-12. Lee picked up the next two points, but failed to keep the set going with a service error to end the set, 25-14.
- For the second straight set, Lee took an early lead, this time at 8-1, but again the Choctaws responded and climbed back into the set and took their first lead at 12-11 behind an ace from Kendall Platt.  The two teams exchanged five-lead changes and seven deadlocks during the set, with the last coming at 17-all. MC took control of the set with a 5-1 spurt and closed out the second with the last three points, including a kill from FitzHenry and a Platt ace.
- A nip-and-tuck set, Lee held a 15-11 advantage midway through the third. MC went on a 5-0 run to take the lead at 16-15. Lee attempted a late charge as it tied the set three different times, but the Navy and Gold closed out the set and match with a 7-0 run. Three different Choctaws added a kill during the final scoring spurt (Laurendine, FitzHenry, Boros) as Platt chimed in her fourth ace of the day.

INSIDE THE BOX
- Mississippi College garnered its second win in the series with Lee and ran its win streak to two straight. MC beat the Flames in Clinton last season – also in straight sets.
- Lee becomes the sixth opponent this season to hit .200 or less this season against the Choctaw defense. MC is 6-0 this season when the opposition posts an attack clip under .200.
- FitzHenry's double-digit kill effort marked a career-high for the Houston, Texas, native. She surpassed her previous total of nine set last weekend in the five-set win at Union.
- Platt registered a team-best four-service ace in the match as the team compiled eight on the day. The four aces equaled her season-high set against Alabama-Huntsville on March 6 in Clinton.
