CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team fell 10-1 to Shorter University on Friday, March 19 at Frierson Field at Dickins-Scoper Stadium. MC falls to 4-12 on the season and 1-10 in Gulf South Conference play. Shorter improved to 13-6 and 10-6 in the league.

The Choctaw bats struggled at the plate as they accounted for four hits in the nine-inning affair.

Jaron Harris each recorded a hit in the contest.
Dakota Kennedy and
Markarius Lee along with Reese each drew walks in the game. MC left eight runners stranded on the bases in the game.

Bryce Lewis (1-4) took the loss on the mound. He pitched 6.0 innings in the start and allowed four runs on four hits with six strikeouts and six walks.

Jonathan Pintaro (5-1) logged the win on the mound for SU. He fanned 13 batters in the start and allowed the lone run on just four hits and gave up two walks.

Mississippi College and Shorter conclude the series on Saturday, March 20 with a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Shorter jumped out to an early 4-0 lead through five innings as it scored in the second, third and fourth frames.
- The Choctaws plated their lone run in the bottom of the sixth as they executed a double steal, with runners at the corners, and
Ken Scott scored from third.
- The Hawks regained their four-run lead in the top of the seventh and followed up the ninth with five runs to ice the contest.

Jared Barnes, Daniel Austin and
Brewer Hendrix combined for the final three frames.

- Shorter runs its win streak in the series to three straight and improves to 11-7 all-time against the Choctaws.
- The outing was the third-longest of the season for Lewis. His career long is seven frames as it reached that mark against Miles College earlier on the campaign.
