CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball fell in an 18-12 slugfest with the University of Alabama in Huntsville on Friday, March 12. MC moved to 3-10 on the season and 0-8 in the Gulf South Conference. UAH improved to 9-9, 8-8 GSC.

The Choctaws hit four home runs in the contest and totaled seven hits on the day.
Dakota Kennedy,
Ken Scott,
George Farid and
Caleb Reese accounted for the four long balls. Scott, Farid and Reese finished the day with a pair of hits each and the trio drove in nine of the 11 RBI.

Bryce Lewis (1-3) took the loss on the mound. Lewis tossed 4.0 innings and allowed 11 runs – eight earned – on six hits. He walked four and struck out two in the effort.

Mississippi College and UAH meet on Saturday, March 13 in a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mississippi College held an early lead in the contest, but UAH quickly plated three in the third to take a 3-1 lead, headlined by a Landon Ezzell two-run home run. Zach Duvall helped extend the lead in the fourth with a three-run home for the Chargers.
- Reese scored for his second time of the day in the bottom of the fourth on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 6-2.
- UAH responded with six runs in the fifth headlined by a three-run home run from Carson Villalta.
- The Choctaws added a pair of home runs in the bottom of the fifth. Scott lifted a three-run homer over right center and Farid followed with a solo shot to pull within six runs.
- After UAH plated a run in the top of the sixth, Kennedy responded with a solo home run in the seventh.
- A Griffin Rivers' two-run home run in the eighth and three Charger runs in the ninth capped the Blue and White's scoring for the game.
- Mississippi College attempted a rally in the bottom of the ninth as Farid drove in two with a single to left field and Reese ended the scoring for the night with a three-run home run to right center.

ON THE MOUND
- Five Choctaws took the mound in the contest as
Cooper Gadman,
Chris Braswell and
Brandon Gardner each made their Choctaw debuts in relief. The trio accounted for four innings of work with Gadman tossing 3.1 frames – the longest of a reliever on the day.
Truitt Smith tossed the final inning and struck out two of the three batters he faced.
- Dylan Murphy (4-2) received the win on the mound for the Chargers. He tossed 5.0 frames in the start and allowed six runs – five earned – on three hits with a walk and a strikeout.

INSIDE THE BOX
- The setback snapped a two-game win streak for the Choctaws in the series and moved UAH to 9-3 in the series.
- The 12-Mississippi College runs match the season-high that was set in a 12-2 win over Miles College on Feb. 27.
- Reese's home run gives him the team lead with four. Scott ranks second on the team with three and Kennedy and Farid are tied with two home runs on the campaign each.
