CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team gave No. 7 University of West Florida all it wanted, but came up on the short end of the contest falling in straight sets on Friday, Nov. 5 inside A.E. Wood Coliseum. MC moved to 8-13 overall and 6-7 in Gulf South Conference action. UWF improved to 29-1 and remained undefeated at 14-0.

Lydia Paulette led the Choctaws with 10 kills followed by eight from
Kendall Platt.
Lexie Laurendine helped direct the offense with 16 assists. Defensively,
Missy Beber collected 13 digs while
Stevie Nesbit registered five total blocks.

Madi Cooler paced the Argonauts with 16 kills while Taylor Vaneekeren dished out 36 assists.

MC fell behind the opening set 10-4, but rallied back to pull even at 17-all. The Choctaws took their first advantage at 20-19 and pushed its lead to set-point at 24-20. However, UWF went on a 4-0 run to tie the contest and then posted the final two points of the set.

After West Florida took a 2-0 lead, the Navy and Gold opened with first four points of the third and kept the lead until the Argos matched the score at 14-all. The two squads exchanged leads and ties until UWF gained a 22-17 lead and walked away with a 25-20 win in the third to clinch the match.

Mississippi College returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 9 as it hosts Auburn University at Montgomery. The match is rescheduled following a postponement of a contest that was slated for Saturday, Nov. 6

Inside the Box
- West Florida wrapped up the Gulf South Conference regular season title with the win and will host the conference tournament, Nov. 19-21.
- It's the third time this season that Paulette has led the team in kills this season and the first since Oct. 20 at Valdosta State.
- Nesbit recorded her seventh performance this season leading the team in blocks. The five rejections are tied for second-most for the Madison, Miss., native on the campaign and two shy of her career-high seven.
- Mississippi College registered nine team blocks on the night, which is tied for third-most this season. The Choctaws have recorded nine-plus blocks six times this season. MC out-blocked the Argos, the GSC's top blocking team, by two on the match.
- The nine MC blocks are the third highest blocks allowed by UWF this season. UAH recorded 14 rejections in four sets earlier this season while the University of Indianapolis notched 12 in the Argos' only setback.
