HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team gave the University of Alabama in Huntsville all it wanted on Friday, Nov. 12, but fell in five sets to the Chargers (20-8, 12-3 Gulf South Conference) at Spragins Hall. MC moved to 8-14 and 6-8 in the league.
It's seventh time this season the Choctaws have gone five sets this season and have posted a 3-4 mark in those contests.

A trio of Choctaws recorded double-digit kills in the match led by
Kendall Platt with 14.
Lydia Paulette added 12 kills followed by
Lexi Richards with 11.
Lexie Laurendine dished out 42 assists in the five-setter. She accounted for 42 of the 51 dimes.

Missy Beber,
Stevie Nesbit and
Sloane FitzHenry paced the Navy and Gold's defensive effort. Beber recorded a team-best 30 digs while Nesbit and FitzHenry each notched three blocks.

UAH opened the match with a 25-17 victory in the first set, but the Choctaws rallied to take the second and third sets and claim a 2-1 lead in the match. MC won the second set 25-23 and had to go to extra points in the third to gain a 27-25 win. In a set that saw 15 ties and seven lead changes, the two squads stood deadlocked at 25-all before a pair of Paulette kills ended the set and gave MC a one-set advantage.

The Choctaws opened the fourth with a 4-0 run, but found themselves down 17-11 before the Chargers claimed a 25-18 win to send the match to the deciding set. UAH rode the momentum of the fourth to take an 8-2 lead in the fifth en route to a 15-3 to clinch the match.

Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 13 as it travels to the University of Montevallo. First serve against the Falcons is slated for 2 p.m.

Inside the Boxscore
- UAH leads the all-time series 16-3 and has claimed six in a row. It's the third time in four tries the two squads have gone five sets.
- Tonight's match marks the first time since Oct. 20, 2021 that the Choctaws have had three players in double figure kills.
- With 42 assists in the match, Laurendine has registered six contests with 40-plus assists this season and first since Sept. 24 with 40-or-more dimes. It's her 20th time on the campaign to lead the team in assists in a match.
