COMMERCE, Texas - The Mississippi College Choctaws fell to UT Tyler Saturday afternoon by a final a score of 72-64 in Commerce, Texas.
UT Tyler took a 6-2 lead out of the gate before the Choctaws were able to respond on 6-0 run to take their first lead of the contest 8-6 on a
Tradavis Thompson jumper.
The Choctaws slipped behind, trailing 27-14 with six minutes left in the first half of play. UT Tyler took a 41-28 lead into the break. Coming out of the half, the Choctaws opened up on a 10-2 run to pull back within 43-38 with 16:26 left in the game.Â
With 11 minutes left, a
Zach Jones layup brought the Choctaws back within a one point contest, 49-48. UT Tyler would go on an 11-2 run over the next four minutes of play to extend it's lead back to 60-50. Mississippi College ultimately came up short, falling by a final of 72-64.
Brandon Boston had a fantastic night shooting, totaling 20 points on 9-of-20 from the field. Boston had four rebounds defensively to go along with his offense play.
Tradavis Thompson tallied 12 points while going 2-of-4 from three point territory.
Galen Smith went 3-of-5 from the field with six rebounds to cap off his night.Â
As a team, the Choctaws finished 24-of-51 from the field, shooting 47.0 percent. MC had 28 total rebounds and 30 points in the paint.Â
The Choctaws slip to 2-3 overall on the season and will return to action Tuesday night at Samford with tip-off beginning at 7 p.m. in Birmingham, Ala.
