Choctaws Win Thriller Over LSU-Shreveport

CLINTON, Miss. -- The Mississippi College men's basketball won a thriller Saturday afternoon winning by a final score of 71-66.

Mississippi College led for the majority of the game before falling behind 40-38 in the second half of play with 14 minutes left in regulation. The two teams battled back and forth with LSUS holding a 58-51 lead with only six minutes remaining.

A 17-8 run by the Choctaws put the home team on top 68-66 with under a minute left in the contest, as a pair of free throws down the stretch for the Navy and Gold would ultimately seal the game, as MC went on to win by a final pf 71-66

The Choctaws were led by four different scorers with 14+ points, including Brandon Boston with 14 points, Lamont Berzat and Tradavis Thompson with 15 points, and Judah Jordan with a team high 16 points in the matchup.

Thompson had a stellar afternoon defensively with five rebounds and was 3-of-6 from three point land. Jordan had four rebounds and two assists, and was 3-of-5 from behind the arc. 

Berzat finished with a team best six assists on the night to go along with his 15 points. Zach Jones also had a stellar outing with nine points and a team best seven rebounds. He was also a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line.

As a team, MC finished 24-of-66 from the field and 15-of-16 from the free throw line. The Choctaws also had 25 fast break points and 20 points in the paint. 

MC outscored LSU-Shreveport 34-30 in the first half and second half 37-36 in the Choctaws 71-66 victory.  MC improves to 2-1 overall on the season, 2-0 at home, and returns to action on Friday on the road versus Texas A&M-Commerce with tip-off beginning at 4 p.m.
