MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team picked up its first win in Memphis since 1994 as it down Christian Brothers in straight sets to improve to 8-12 on the season and 6-6 in Gulf South Conference action.

The win marks the third straight for the Navy and Gold and stands as the Choctaws longest win streak in the series.

Kendall Platt and
Lexi Richards each tallied double figure kills in the contest. Platt led the way with 13 tips while Richards added 10. Lexi Lauredine directed the offensive attack with 24 dimes.

Defensively,
Sloane FitzHenry led the team with five total blocks. Richards finished second on the team with three rejections. Missey Beber notched 15 digs to pace the squad while Platt recorded 10 in the three sets.

The Choctaws trailed by as many as four points midway through the first set, but rallied to knot the contest at 22-all. The Navy and Gold then rattled off the next three points to close out the opener. MC rode the momentum into the second set as it claimed an 8-1 lead and expanded the margin to 12-2 forcing CBU to burn its second timeout of the set. The 25-14 win in the second gave MC a 2-0 lead and control of the match.

Mississippi College returns to action on Friday, Nov. 2 as it hosts seventh-ranked University of West Florida. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
