BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Mississippi College men's basketball team opened up the season Saturday afternoon with a loss at Lynn University by a final score of 78-51
The Choctaws had two 10 point scorers on the day, led by
Galen Smith with 12 points and
Miles Miller with 10 points. Smith also led MC defensively with five rebounds.Â
Tradavis Thompson was clutch, finishing with seven points while
Lamont Berzat also had a solid outing, tallying eight points in 4-of-6 shooting from the field.
As a team, Mississippi College shot 22-of-56 (39.3 percent) on the court with 39 points in the paint. Mississippi College was aided off the bench, with 18 bench points.
Lynn jumped out to an early lead, maintaining control over the Choctaws through the duration of the contest. Lynn led 38-17 at the half, yet the Choctaws were able to climb back to within a 50-37 deficit with 11 minutes to go in the game. Lynn went on to take the win over MC in the Choctaws season opener by a final of 78-51.
MC falls to 0-1 overall and will look to return to the court Wednesday night at home versus Millsaps for the home opener of the 2021-22 season. Tip-off is set for 7 pm CST at A.E. Woods Coliseum.
