CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team notched their first win of the 2020-21 season with a dominating 89-57 victory on Saturday afternoon at A.E. Wood Coliseum.
The Choctaws improved to 1-5 on the year, while the Bulldogs fell to 6-4 after the series split this weekend.

KEY STATS / NOTES

Zach Jones scored a career-high 23 points, going 7-of-9 from the floor and 9-of-10 from the foul line with nine rebounds.
 -
Brandon Boston tallied his first double-double of the year with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
 - The Choctaws went 11-of-23 (48%) from the three-point line after their previous high for long balls in a game was six this season.
 - Overall, MC went 33-of-61 (54%) from the field and held the Bulldogs to 19-of-53 (36%).
 - The Choctaws also held a 44-25 rebounding edge and scored 29 points off of 18 Union turnovers.
 - MC also had 19 assists on 33 made field goals, led by six from
Dyllan Taylor and five from
Antonio Cowart Jr.

Dillyn Neely also scored in double-figures with 15 points, going 5-of-9 from the three-point line.
 - Justin Debuck led the Bulldogs with 12 points, while JC Clausi poured in 11.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 - The Choctaws got off to a hot start and did not look back as Boston's jumper with 16:31 to go in the first half put MC ahead, 12-1.
 - Neely hit one of his five three-pointers with 12:22 to go and gave the Choctaws 24-7 advantage.
 - The Choctaws would push their lead out to as many as 23 in the first half before taking a 49-28 lead into the break.
 - In the second half, MC used a 26-5 run to extend the lead to their largest of the night at 77-34 with just under 11 minutes to go in the game.
 - The Choctaws took the foot off the gas in the final minutes and cruised to the 32-point victory.

 - The Choctaws will be back in action next weekend when they host Christian Brothers for a two-game series (Jan. 29-30) in A.E. Wood Coliseum.
