Dunn and Wilson Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams

CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College juniors Rakeem Wilson and Alexis Dunn were named to the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team, announced on Monday, June 1.

Dunn recorded a 4.00 in Biology and earned the 2020 Gulf South Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Champion Scholar-Athlete award this year along with being named to the 2020 GSC Winter Academic Honor Roll. She finished third in the distance medley relay at the conference championships. She served as a team captain for the MC cross country team and was a member of the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team and GSC Academic Honor Roll during the fall.

Wilson claimed a pair of GSC Championships at the conference's inaugural championship earlier in the semester. He brought home crowns in the 200 meters and 400 meters and was a member of the 4x400 relay team that finished third at the championships. Wilson posted a 3.94 in Kinesiology and earned 2020 GSC Winter All-Academic Team laurels.

The 2020 Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field / Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes track & field/cross country honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced from June 22-25.

Mississippi College is a part of District 5 in NCAA Division II, which is comprised of the Gulf South Conference, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Sunshine State Conference
 



Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and began competing for conference and national championships in the 2016-17 academic year.

The athletic department sponsors 18 intercollegiate athletic programs: Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Cross Country, Football, Men's and Women's Golf, Men's and Women's Soccer, Softball, Men's and Women's Tennis, Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field, Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field and Volleyball.
