CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team dropped the series to Young Harris College on Saturday, Feb. 8 as the Choctaws were topped 10-5 in the opener and were blanked 5-0 in the night cap. MC moves to 2-3 on the season while the Mountain Lions improve to 3-0.

It was a tough day at the plate for the Navy and Gold as it combined for just six hits in the doubleheader.
Logan McGrew posted on the multiple hit performance of the day going 2-for-3 with a pair of solo home runs in game one.

Both Choctaw starters were saddled with losses in the twinbill.
David Dunn (1-1) tossed three frames allowing seven runs on six hits with three strikeouts and a trio of walks.
Luke Files (1-1) received his first loss on the season in the second contest of the day. Files pitched three innings as he surrounded three runs on five hits with a strikeout.

The two squads finish the series on Sunday, Feb. 9. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
>> YHC jumped on the board early in the as it plastered five runs in its first trip to the plate. The Purple and White logged three hits in the frame and capitalized on a pair of bases loaded walks to take the early command.
>> After the Mountain Lions added their sixth run of the game in the top of the third,
Markarius Lee placed the Navy and Gold on the board with a two-out, two-run, home run in the bottom of the frame that scored
Brandon Broussard, who reached two batters prior on a walk.
>> YHC added another run in the top of the fourth, but McGrew clipped the lead back with lead-off homer run in the bottom of the fifth.
>> Following a quiet sixth and a Cole Jackson solo home run in the top of the seventh, McGrew added his second home run, another lead-off, in the bottom of the inning. The Choctaws added their second run of the frame as Lee scored on a
Grant Barber RBI-single.
>> YHC concluded its scoring with a run in the eighth and ninth.

HOW IT HAPPENED
>> The Mountain Lions used the long ball in the night cap to capture the doubleheader sweep as they hit four, solo home runs in the in the contest, including a pair from Oscar Serratos.
>> MC logged its only hit in the contest in the bottom of the fourth breaking up Mat Szabo's perfect-game attempt with a single into right field.
Caleb Reese became just the second Choctaw baserunner of the night as he reached following a two-out, seven-pitch, at-bat in the fifth.
>> Despite trailing 4-0 through five and a half innings, MC loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth with no outs.
Casey Page and
Samuel Kimel drew back-to-back walks and
Lane Willis reached after being hit on the first pitch of his at-bat, however, a strikeout and 6-4-3, double play ended the threat and left the bases loaded.
