CLINTON, Miss. --- The 25th-ranked Mississippi College baseball team set a school record in stolen bases as it claimed the series finale against Quincy (Ill.) University in run-rule fashion, 17-7, on Sunday, Feb. 23 at Frierson Field.

The Choctaws swiped 13 bases in contest.

MC had four players record multiple hits on the afternoon while five registered multi-RBI efforts as all nine in the lineup reached base.
Grant Barber and
George Farid tied for tops on the team with three hits each while
Ken Scott and
Logan McGrew each drove in four runs. The Choctaws totaled 13 hits in the contest.

Bryce Lewis (2-0) took the win on the mound as he allowed just one QU baserunner in 2.1 innings along with a strikeout.

Mississippi College returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 25 as it hosts Southern Arkansas University. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Quincy took a 4-0 lead in the second inning, MC cut the lead in half off a two-run home run from Scott in the bottom of the frame. The Choctaws added their own four spot in the bottom of the third to take the lead. Scott started the scoring in the frame with a two-run, RBI single.
Casey Page followed with a two-run, single of his own and the Navy and Gold held a 6-4 advantage.
- The Hawks added a run in the top of the fourth, but a
Caleb Reese three-run home run in the bottom half of the frame swelled the lead to 9-5.
- MC added five more in the sixth to expand the lead to 14-5 headlined by
Markarius Lee's two-run single up the middle.
- Nolan Wosman clipped the Choctaws' lead in half in the top of the seventh with a two-run home run, but the Navy and Gold again answered as McGrew delivered a bases-clearing, RBI double to capture the victory.

Zack Ingram pitched 3.2 in the start as he allowed five runs – four earned – on six hits along with a walk and two strikeouts.

Tommy Taborda tossed the final frame with two runs on three hits and two strikeouts.

INSIDE THE BOX
- The 13 stolen bases surpassed the previous high of 11 set on April 1, 2010 against East Texas Baptist University. MC ranks third in the Gulf South Conference with 29.
- Reese moved into a tie for second in the conference and tops on the team with his three-run homer. The Bossier City, La., freshman has four on the campaign.
- With the two home runs on the day, MC has totaled a GSC-best 15 on the season.
- The run-rule victory is the second of the season. MC run-ruled Young Harris College on Feb. 9, 11-1.
