Chargers Pick Up 67-49 Win Over Lady Choctaws

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team could not overcome a tough shooting night as they fell to Alabama Huntsville, 67-49, on Saturday afternoon in A.E. Wood Coliseum.

The Lady Choctaws fell to 8-12 with a 5-9 Gulf South Conference record, while the Chargers improved to 11-8 with an 8-5 league mark.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  - The first quarter saw the Lady Choctaws jump out to an 8-6 lead, but the Chargers closed on an 11-2 run to grab the 17-10 advantage.
  - In the second stanza, MC was able to cut the lead down to 22-18, but UAH would end up taking a 34-23 lead into halftime.
  - In the third quarter, the Chargers used an 18-3 run to take their largest lead of the night at 52-26.
  - While the Lady Choctaws were able to cut the deficit down to 16 in the fourth, UAH would pull away for the road win.
 

KEY STATS
  - The Lady Choctaws shot just 31% (18-of-59) from the field and went just 3-of-15 from the three-point line.
  - The Chargers shot nearly 50% from the floor and the three-point line, also taking advantage of the glass with a 46-32 rebounding edge.
  - Zariah Matthews led MC with 20 points, four assists and three steals.
  - Moriah Hurst also scored in double-figures with 12, while Coco Hobson had a team-high seven rebounds.
  - Holly Harris scored a game-high 21 points, while Aryn Sanders had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
 

NEXT UP
  - The Lady Choctaws will be back in action next Saturday when they head to Alabama to face Auburn Montgomery at 2:00 p.m.
