Edwards' Big Bucket Give Choctaws 78-73 Win Over Christian Brothers

CLINTON, Miss. --- Winceton Edwards knocked down a contested three-pointer with just over 10 seconds remaining to help give the Mississippi College men's basketball team a 78-73 win over Christian Brothers on Thursday night in A.E. Wood Coliseum.

For the Choctaws, it was their first win over CBU since re-joining Division II and the Gulf South Conference prior to the 2014-15 season. The last win for MC over the Bucs came on December 1, 1978 with a 69-67 victory in Clinton.

The Choctaws improved to 7-8 on the season with a 3-6 GSC record, while the Bucs dropped to 6-11 with a 2-7 league mark.

  - The Bucs battled back again and would eventually grab the lead back with a pair of free throws by Daryl Lewis to make the score 55-54 with 7:08 remaining.
  - CBU appeared to grab the momentum in the final five minutes as a three-pointer from Miller and a pair of free throws from Aiden Ruthsatz put them ahead 65-60 with 4:05 to go.
  - The Choctaws would tie it up with five straight points, but the Bucs got another three-pointer from Miller in the final minute to take the 72-71 lead.
  - After Malik Jones made 1-of-2 free throws for CBU, Edwards took a pass from Ken Lewis and hit a long ball from the left wing to give the Choctaws a 74-73 advantage with under 10 seconds remaining.
  - MC made a big defensive stop and followed that up with a pair of free throws from Jones before he made a steal and Edwards made a layup to clinch the five-point victory.
