SPOKANE, Wash. --- Former Mississippi College baseball standout and current Spokane Indians first baseman,
Blaine Crim, continues to add to his list of accolades on the diamond, as he was named MiLB Classification All-Star for Short-Season leagues (Northwest League and NY-Penn League) by Baseball America.
Â
Baseball America honors minor leaguers at all levels with the annual Classification All-Stars in efforts to honor the top players at each level based on their performance.
Â
The 19th round draft pick of the Texas Rangers led the NWL in batting (.335), OPS (.927) and RBI (45) as well as finishing second in total bases (112) and hits (71). The Mobile, Ala., product was a constant clutch performer for the Indians as he hit .300 in every month of the season in 246 plate appearances and didn't discriminate against opposing pitchers with clips of .327 against left-handers and .355 vs. right-handers. Crim saved his best for the biggest moments as he finished the season with a .459 average and 1.118 OPS with two outs and runners in scoring position.
Â
"This season in Spokane was one I never expected and was the best first pro season I could've asked for. The staff, my teammates, and the fans were truly incredible and I could not have had the season I had without them," said Crim. "I wish the season could have ended in a championship, but I am extremely blessed and humbled to receive these honors."
Â
Along with his list of accomplishments this season, Crim was also named the NWL's Top Star at the NWL vs PBL All-Star Game in Boise, Idaho on Aug. 6th after finishing the game with three hits and a pair of RBI.
Â
Spokane finished the season with a 45-31 mark and clinched the Northwest League North Division.
Â
Crim concluded his four-year career at Mississippi College as the 2019 Gulf South Conference Player of the Year, two-time Google Cloud Academic All-American, two-time All-GSC selection, a five-time all-region selection, three-time GSC All-Academic Team member and a 2019 GSC Top 10 honoree along with the program leader in hits, games played, at-bats, doubles, and second in runs, home runs, RBI and total bases.
