SPOKANE, Wash. --- Former Mississippi College baseball standout and 2019 Gulf South Conference Player of the Year,
Blaine Crim, continued to add to his list of accolades on Thursday, Aug. 29 as the Spokane Indians' first baseman was named the Class-A Short Season, Northwest League Most Valuable Player.
Crim leads the Northwest League in a plethora of categories. His 70 hits, .343 batting average, 45 RBI, .541 slugging percentage, and .942 OPS lead all current Northwest League hitters while he also ranks in the top five in both doubles (15) and home runs (8). The productivity has come in 219 plate appearances over 50 games this season.
The Mobile, Ala.,-native has been consistent in the Indians' lineup. Crim has posted a clip above .300 in June, July, and August. He has a .381 average, on the road, including a 1.043 OPS. The 19th round draft pick has continued to produce in clutch situations as he's hitting .458 with runners in scoring position and is 16-for-35 with runners in scoring position and two outs, including two home runs and 15 RBI.
Crim is the only player from the four-year, Mississippi universities to rank in the top 10 in multiple categories this season in Class-A, Short Season.Â
Crim became the second consecutive Indian to earn the MVP award.
