CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College Outdoor Track and Field placed 10 student-athletes on the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-South Region Team. Seven Choctaws were named to the list while the Lady Choctaws added three.
Tytavia Hardy and
Dalton Dempsey led the Navy and Gold with multiple events. Hardy was named all-region in the triple, long and high jump. Dempsey garnered all-region accolades in the 400 meters and as a member of the 4x400 relay team. Hardy qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships.
Marina Rizk earned all-region honors in the pole vault with
Ezra McCaw in the 100 meters. Rizk set a new Gulf South Conference Championship meet record in the pole vault with an 11' 5.75".
Luke Hodnett,
Rakeem Wilson and
Justin Jackson joined Dempsey as members of the 4-x400 relay team.
Evan Del Rio grabbed the honor in the steeple chase with
Jordan Pritchard in the 1,500 meters. Al Ferril earned the accolade in the shot put.
Mississippi College was one of six teams from the Gulf South Conference to be represented on the list and ranked third behind league leaders Lee University and the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
A total of 1,831 honors were handed out to USTFCCCA member institutions, which included 926 to men's programs and an additional 905 to women's programs.
