CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team completed a Gulf South Conference series sweep of the University of Montevallo on Saturday, March 30 with a doubleheader sweep. The Choctaws started the day with a 9-1 victory and concluded with a 6-1 win.

The sweep is the fourth this season by MC and its third in conference play.

Three Choctaws hits .500 for the day led by
Dylan Duplechain with four hits, including two doubles, a RBI and four runs scored.
Chauncey Callier and
Billy Cameron each went 3-for-6 at the dish. Callier finished with a team-best four RBI and three runs scored. Cameron drove in one and scored twice.

Zack Ingram (3-2) and
Garrett Hollinghead (4-1) picked up complete game wins on the mound. The complete game victories are the first of the season for the Choctaw hurler duo and become the fifth and sixth complete game performances turned in by MC pitchers this season (
Ryan Lane, 4).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After being tied 1-1 through an inning and a half, the Choctaws used a three-run, second inning to grab the lead in the contest. Luke Yancey drew a bases loaded walk to score the first run of the game and Brandon Broussard later scored on a ground out to extend the lead to 3-1. Duplechain drove in the final run of the frame with a RBI single up the middle to score Trace Hamby.
- MC added on four more in the fifth with Callier driving in one sandwiched between RBI doubles from Blaine Crim and Broussard.
- Cameron added the final run of the contest in the sixth with a RBI single that plated Duplechain.

- Hollinghead struck out four in nine innings as he allowed just one run on six hits.

- The Navy and Gold jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in its first at-bat and plated three more in the third headlined by Callier's two-run, homer run. Yancey capped the scoring in the frame with a RBI single that pushed Broussard across the dish.
- Crim scored the final MC run of the game in the fourth with a solo home run to extend the lead to 6-0.
- Montevallo grabbed its only run of the game in the seventh inning on a Ryan Brooks' solo home run.

- Ingram fanned seven in seven frames giving up a run on four hits.

- The Choctaws swept Harding University, the University of West Georgia and Lee University.
- Crim recorded his 224th and 225th career hits on the day.
