Men's Tennis Improves to 2-0 in GSC Play

CLINTON, Miss. ---  The Mississippi College Men's Tennis team improved to 2-0 in Gulf South Conference play this afternoon after defeating the Chargers of Alabama-Huntsville by a score of 4-1. The Choctaws will improve to 2-4 overall and the Chargers will fall to 4-2.

The match between the two schools was originally scheduled to start at 1:00 P.M. on March 2 but was moved up to 10:00 A.M. However due to unexpected showers and wet playing surfaces, the match was pushed back to a 12:30 P.M. start time.

Once underway the Choctaws were able to rally from behind to take the doubles point with wins from the teams of Maksym Konovalov/Francois Le Tallec and Max Nilges/Shane Samyn. In singles, Konovalov kept the momentum for MC as he rolled in straight sets. Le Tallec rallied to win in three sets and Niles finished of the Chargers with his victory in three sets.

The Choctaws will be back in GSC action on Wednesday March 6 as they travel to Livingston, Ala. to face West Alabama at 3:30 P.M.
