CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team returns to action on Wednesday, March 20 as it travels to Biloxi, Miss., for a midweek clash with William Carey University. First pitch at MGM Park is slated for 6:30 p.m.

This marks the second time the two in-state institutions have faced at the home of the Biloxi Shuckers, the Double-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. Last season the Choctaws earned an 8-7 win over the Crusaders on March 14. It marked the fourth straight win in the series for the Navy and Gold.

Mississippi College enters the game riding a three-game win streak after sweeping Gulf South Conference foe Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn., over the weekend. MC secured the sweep with a 7-6 win as
Grant Barber hit a RBI single in the team's last at-bat. The feat helped Barber become the GSC Player of the Week – the first since
Blaine Crim accomplished the feat in 2017 and the fourth Choctaw to receive one of the conference's weekly honors this season as
Ryan Lane,
Chris Crosby and
Zack Ingram have all been named GSC Pitcher of the Week.

Barber along with Crim sit atop the team with 31 hits. Barber leads the squad with a .369 batting average while Crim ranks second with a .341. The duo is also tied with a team-best 10 doubles. Crim paces the squad with six home runs followed by
Billy Cameron with five home runs.

William Carey enters the midweek tilt with an 8-13 record after falling 16-3 to NAIA #18 University of Mobile on Saturday, March 16. The loss snapped a four-game win streak for the Crusaders.

Jonathan Turner and Sloan Dieter paced the Red and Black at the plate. Turner leads the team with 24 hits and a .353 batting average. Dieter tops the team with 17 RBI and four home runs.

Following the midweek affair, Mississippi College travels to Montgomery, Ala., to face Auburn University at Montgomery in a GSC weekend series. First pitch of the series is slated for Friday, March 22 at 6 p.m.
Mississippi College is a private Christian university located in Clinton, Mississippi with an enrollment of over 5,000 students. MC recently finished their transition process back to NCAA Division II and the Gulf South Conference and will be competing for conference and national championships in the 2016-17 academic year.
