PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The No. 20 Mississippi College baseball team fell 5-3 to the University of West Florida on Friday, March 1 at Jim Spooner Field. The setback is the first in Gulf South Conference action this season for the Choctaws.

Billy Cameron and
Grant Barber led the Choctaws at the plate with two hits each. Cameron also drove in a pair in the contest. The duo accounted for four of the Choctaws' seven hits in the game.

Chris Crosby (1-1) was saddled with the loss on the mound. Crosby tossed six frames allowing five runs on nine hits with a pair of walks and five strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After West Florida scored four runs in its first four trips to the plate, the Choctaws cut into the Argos' lead with three runs.
- Billy Cameron got the scoring started with a double down the left field line that scored Dylan Duplechain and Grant Barber. Duplechain and Barber reached on back-to-back singles. Cameron later scored on a failed pick-off attempt after Chauncey Callier was hit by pitch.

- Christian Bellew pitched two innings in relief. The senior hurler struck out two and walked a pair along with a hit.

- Cameron extended his hit streak to 15 games – the longest of any Choctaw on the team.
- Cameron has six games this season with multiple RBI and the 17th of his career and his career 22nd with multiple hits.
- Barber added his 36th career game with multiple hits.
