No. 18 Choctaws Fall to No. 17 Southern Arkansas

CLINTON, Miss. --- The No. 18 Mississippi College baseball team had its three-game win streak snapped as it fell 12-6 in non-conference action against No. 17 Southern Arkansas on Tuesday, Feb. 26. The decision moved both teams to 10-4 on the season.
 
Ty Alderman paced the squad at the dish with two hits, including a solo home run, and a pair of RBI. Billy Cameron joined Alderman with multiple hits in the contest.
 
Zack Ingram (2-2) was saddled with the loss on the mound as six Choctaw hurlers saw action on the bump. Ingram allowed seven runs – two earned – on five hits with three walks in the start.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Southern Arkansas jumped on the board early as it plated seven runs in its first trip to the plate. The Muleriders capitalized on two errors and pounded out five hits en route to the big inning.
  • Mississippi College got on the board in the second inning as Cameron scored on an Alderman sacrifice fly to left field.
  • After the Choctaws picked up a pair of runs in the fourth on solo home runs from Chauncey Callier and Alderman, the Navy and Gold pulled within two runs in the fifth as Cameron recorded a RBI-single and Grant Barber scored on a passed ball.
  • SAU responded in the seventh as it used two RBI hits, a bases loaded walk and two wild pitches to scratch out five runs in the frame.
  • MC notched its final run of the game in the bottom of the seventh as Dylan Duplechain scored on a Barber sac fly to left.

NOTEABLES
  • The strikeout total surpassed Kennedy's previous high of four set against West Georgia last season.
  • Harrell and Hendrix made their Mississippi College debuts in the contest.
  • Southern Arkansas improved its record in the series to 6-1, including wins in the last two outings.
