JACKSON, Miss. --- The No. 18 Mississippi College baseball team secured a Sunday twinbill against the University of West Georgia at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson, Miss. The Choctaws opened with a 3-1 win in Game One and followed with a 5-0 blanking of the Wolves in the night cap.

The Navy and Gold received impressive pitching performances in both outing.
Chris Crosby (1-0) fanned a career-high 13 in the opener while
Ryan Lane (3-1) struck out eight in the second contest. The pitching staff allowed a total of five, Wolves' hits in the doubleheader.
Tommy Taborda notched his third save of the season in the opening game as he pitched the final third of the ninth inning.

Ty Alderman and
Grant Barber led the team with three hits each. The Choctaws combined for 14 hits in the doubleheader.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- West Georgia plated the first run of the game as Tyler Breen hit a leadoff home run in the top of the third.
- Billy Cameron gave the Choctaws their first lead of the game with a double down the left field line to plate Dylan Duplechain and Grant Barber. Duplechain reached on an error to start the third and Barber followed with an infield hit.
- Alderman notched the final run of the game as he followed Cameron's double with a RBI-single that scored Blaine Crim.

- Crosby retired the Wolves in order from the fifth through seventh innings, including four strikeouts during the stretch. He tossed 8.2 innings and allowed one run on two hits with four walks.
- Taborda struck out the final UWG hitter of the game following a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless, first three innings, Chauncey Callier placed MC on the board in the fourth inning with a two-run double to right center after a Barber single and Cameron reaching on an intentional walk.
- Callier later scored on a sacrifice bunt from Walker Watts to close out the scoring in the frame.
- Barber and Cameron each drove in runs in the fifth. Barber doubled to score Duplechain and one batter later, Cameron singled to left field to push Barber across the dish.

- Lane allowed three hits in the complete-game, seven-inning performance to go along with his strikeout total.

NOTEABLES
- Crosby's 13 strikeouts are the most by any Choctaw hurler this season and ranks second in the GSC this season.
- Taborda holds third in career saves with nine – breaking the tie with Josh Denson (2008-09). He stands three away from second and fourth from the career leader.
- Mississippi College holds a 12-8 all-time record against West Georgia.
- Head coach Jeremy Haworth is 7-1 in conference openers in his career and 3-1 at Mississippi College.
