PENSACOLA, Fla. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team fell 73-61 at the University of West Florida on Saturday, Feb. 16 as the Argonauts secured a season sweep. MC falls to 6-17 overall and 2-15 in the Gulf South Conference. UWF improved to 21-4 and 15-3 in the league.

Lauran Sheriff was the only Lady Choctaw to score in double figures as the Jackson, Miss., native posted 12 points.
Jamilah Sanders paced the Navy and Gold on the glass with six rebounds. MC shot 40.6 percent from the floor, including 30 percent from behind the arc.

Halee Niemann led the Argos with 23 points while Toni Brewer added a double-double with 11 points and a team-best 14 rebounds. Anna Hall also recorded double-digit boards with 12. UWF shot 56.0 percent from the field, including hitting 10 of 18 from behind the 3-point line for 55.6 percent, and connected on 87.5 percent from the charity stripe.

TURNING POINT
Mississippi College cut the Argos lead to 33-25 with 1:09 left before the half, but UWF's Rachel McCree drained a 3-pointer with 30 seconds left to place the Argos up 11 going into the intermission. UWF used the trey to spark an 11-2 that carried over into the third quarter as the Blue and Green grabbed a 44-27 lead midway through the stanza.
