CLINTON, Miss. --- LeMoyne-Owen College used a fourth quarter surge to defeat the Mississippi College women's basketball team 70-63 inside A.E. Wood Coliseum on Saturday, Dec. 7. MC falls to 3-4 on the season while LOC improved to 1-4.

Four Lady Choctaws scored in double figures led by
Mikeba Jones with 17 points.
Kaitlyn Thompson added a career-high 15 points while
Coco Hobson chimed in 13 points.
Shanell Kitchens poured in 12 points to round out the group. Thompson grabbed a roster-best and season-high 11 boards.

MC shot 33.9 percent from the floor, including 33.3 from behind the arc. The Navy and Gold posted a clip of 70.8 from the charity stripe.

Amil Mitchell paced a quartet of Lady Magicians with 18 points. Gabbie Morgan and Patrisha Lollis grabbed a team-best seven rebounds apiece. LOC shot 39.3 percent from the field, including 6-of-22 from the 3-point line, and connected on 66.7 percent from the free throw line.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- MC trailed 32-24 at the break, but outscored the Purple and Gold 22-13 in the third quarter to hold a one-point lead heading into the final 10 minutes of play.
- The Lady Choctaws grabbed their first lead since the 5:12 mark of the second quarter with 23 seconds left in the third on a pair of Jones free throws.
- Mitchell placed the Lady Magicians back on top with a 3-pointer to start the final stanza. The two teams exchanged leads over the next four and half minutes until Mitchell's layup placed the Purple and Gold in front for good.
- LOC grabbed its largest lead of the game, 66-57, with under a minute to play.
