CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team dropped an 84-62 decision at the University of Montevallo on Monday, Nov. 25. MC moved to 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in Gulf South Conference action. UM improved to 5-1 and 2-0 in the league.

A trio of Choctaws scored in double figures in the setback led by
Shanell Kitchens' career-high 15 points.
Kaitlyn Thompson and
Lindsey Vaughn each added season-highs in the contest. Thompson posted 13 points followed by Vaughn's 10.
Coco Hobson led the Navy and Gold on the glass with seven rebounds.

MC shot 43.6 percent from the floor, including a clip of 35.7 from behind the arc. The Falcons connected on 45.3 percent from the field and shot 44.8 from the 3-point line. UM was 72.2 percent from the charity stripe.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Choctaws led 7-2, their largest lead of the game, at the 8:20 mark of the opening quarter, but found itself trailing 25-24 after the first 10 minutes of play.
- The Falcons outscored MC 17-5 in the second quarter as it headed into the intermission leading 42-29. The Purple and Gold opened the second stanza on a 13-4 run and grab their first double-digit lead of the contest.
- UM grabbed its largest lead, 79-54, with 2:02 left to play in the game on a jumper from Rachael Baker.
