HOOVER, Ala. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team wrapped up its NCAA Division II South Region Crossover between the Gulf South and Sunshine State Conferences on Saturday, Oct. 19 with a four-sets setback to Saint Leo University at the Finley Center in Hoover, Ala.

Jamie Boros and
Lexie Laurendine each notched double figure kills in the four sets to the lead the offensive attack. Boros finished with a team-best 17 while Laurendine added 14 kills on the day. Laurendine also added a team-best 17 assists while compiling 10 digs for a triple-double to close out the day.

Levi Lennard dished out 15 assists while
Julia Martin had a team-high 19 digs.
Kate Bass totaled eight blocks in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Saint Leo held a 2-0 advantage through the first two sets. The Lions used a 5-1 run to close capture the opening set 25-22 and rallied into extra points in the second set, 26-24.
- The Lions took an early 4-0 in the third. MC rallied to tie the contest at 8-all. The two teams exchanged leads and ties down the stretch. SLU grabbed a 20-18 lead, but the Choctaws responded with a 4-0 run to gain the edge at 22-20. SLU tied the contest at 22 and 23-all before a service error and Laurendine sealed the set for MC, 25-23.
- Like the prior three sets, the fourth was tight throughout. The Green and Gold went on a 5-0 run to gain a 23-18 advantage. MC closed the gap to 23-20, but the Lions picked up two of the final three points to capture the set, 25-21, and the match.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Laurendine's triple-double marks the eighth of her career and fourth this season.
- Bass' total blocks marked a season-high for the freshman. Her 37 solo blocks this season are tied for second in program history in a single-season.
- The Choctaws registered 10 total blocks as a unit. That ties the mark for second most this season (Oct. 1 vs. Christian Brothers). MC had 13 vs. Missouri S&T on Sept. 14.
- Boros' double-digit effort marks the team-best 16th of the season.
