CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team had its two-match win streak snapped in four sets on Friday, Oct. 11 against Valdosta State University.

Lexi Richards and
Kendall Platt led the Choctaws with 12 each in the match while
Lexie Laurendine dished out a team-best 27 assists – one off her season-best and two off her career-best.
Levi Lennard added 11 assists.

Defensively for the Navy and Gold,
Julia Martin led the way with 14 digs.
Brandi Bundy supplied 13 while Platt added 12.
Kate Bass led at the net with a team-best four total blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing 20-18, the Choctaws closed out the first set on a 7-3 run to take the early advantage in the contest. Junior Autumn Frost and Richards led the way during the run with two kills apiece. Platt and Jamie Boros each added a kill during the run.
- The Blazers used a 6-0 run midway through the second set to take a 12-8 lead. MC cut the deficit to within a point on several occasions, but another scoring burst by the Black and Red sealed the set and evened the match at a set each.
- A set of runs, Valdosta State gained the upperhand in the third with a 4-0 run to gain a 22-18 lead. MC attempted to cut into the deficit, but only drew within three points before falling 25-21.
- VSU jumped out to a 17-10 lead in the fourth set, behind an 8-2 run, en route to a 25-19 match-clinching set.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Platt broke into the top 10 in career kills. She sits ninth in the category with 530 kills in two seasons.
- With a pair of service aces, Martin moved into a tie for fifth with former teammate Sydney Chandler (2014-17) with 87 in her career.
- Platt's double-double marked the eighth of the season and ties her for the team-lead.
