Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Choctaws opened the match with wins in the first two sets (25-16, 25-18). Trailing 12-11 in the first set, Platt tied the contest at 12-all off an assist from Laurendine. The point started a 10-point swing for the Navy and Gold. CBU cut the lead to 22-15, but the Choctaws closed the set on a 3-1 run.
- MC took control midway through the second set as it claimed a 14-8 advantage behind a kill from Lauredine, Boros and Frost. Platt registered a service ace during the run.
- A back and forth contest in the third set, CBU went on a 7-2 run to gain the advantage in the set. MC cut the deficit to 23-21 behind a 4-2 spurt, but the Lady Bucs halted the streak on a kill from Mollie Wadsworth. MC fought off set point and cut the lead to 24-23, but an Emma Lenoir kill claimed the set for the visitors and sent the match to the fourth set. Â
INSIDE THE BOX
- The 10 kills marks a season-high for Richards as she surpassed her previous total of nine at West Florida on Sept. 27.
- Platt notched her 13th career double-double in the match while Laurendine added her 12th.
- Platt recorded seven service aces during the contest – a career-high for the Anaheim, Calif., sophomore. It's tied for fourth-best in a single-match. She's the first Choctaw since Shelby Grace Mays against William Carey on Sept. 7, 2017 to accomplish the feat.
