HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team fell 67-53 at the University of Alabama in Huntsville on Thursday, Jan. 31. The loss marks a season sweep by UAH in the series and moves the Chargers win streak in the series to four straight.

A pair of Lady Choctaws scored in double figures in the contest led by Zan Ratcliffe with 13 points. Jamilah Sanders added 11 points for the Navy and Gold and led the squad on the glass with seven rebounds. MC shot 27.9 percent from the field and connected on 68 percent from the free throw line.
 
UAH was led in scoring by Baylee Johnson with 24 points. Katie Speegle added a double-double for the Chargers with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Aryn Sanders provided 15 points with 14 points coming from Emiline Payne. The Blue and White shot 43.4 percent from the field, including 42.9 from behind the arc. UAH shot 65.2 percent from the charity stripe.
 
TURNING POINT
  • After Kirsten Thompson pulled MC with a point with the first basket of the second half, UAH went on a 9-0 run to extend its lead to 42-32 with 5:35 left in third quarter. It marked the first double-digit lead for the Chargers in the game.

  • Sanders has scored in double figures nine times this season, which is tied for the team lead.
  • With the 13 points, Ratcliffe has scored in double figures six times this season.
  • Ratcliffe recorded a season-high six rebounds in the contest, which was tied for second on the team and one from the team leader.
