CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team fell 62-52 to No. 22 Lee (Tenn.) University on Thursday, Jan. 24 at A.E. Wood Coliseum.
 
A pair of Lady Choctaws scored in double figures led by Lauran Sheriff with 12 points. Zan Ratcliffe joined Sheriff in double figures with 10 points. Coco Hobson led the squad with seven rebounds. Mississippi College shot 33.3 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the free throw line. MC grabbed a total 34 rebounds.

Becca Cheeks led Lee in scoring with 12 points. Abby Bertram added 11 with Taylor Boggess rounding out the trio with 10 points. Cheeks paced the Lady Flames with six rebounds. LU shot 44.0 percent from the floor, including a clip of 47.1 from behind the arc. The team shot 62.5 percent from the charity stripe.
 
TURNING POINT
  • Lee went on an 8-0 run midway through the fourth quarter. Zariah Matthews tied the game at 50-all with 6:18 left in the contest. Haley Schubert provided four of the eight points during the run.
INSIDE THE BOX
  • The 62 points were the third fewest for Lee this season. The fewest was 47 in a 49-47 loss at Young Harris College on Dec. 4.
  • Sheriff has scored in double figures in five contests. The scoring effort marks the 23rd of her career.
  • Ratcliffe's scoring effort marks her fifth game in double-digits and 11th of her MC career.
  • MC held the lead, 44-42, with less than a minute to play in the third quarter, but a turnover led to six, Lee points to end the stanza and place the Flames up 48-44 with 10 minutes to play.
  • The 18 turnovers are the third fewest for Mississippi College this season.

Mississippi College hosts the University of Alabama in Huntsville on Saturday, Jan. 26. MC is 4-8 against the Lady Chargers in the series and look to snap a two-game slide to UAH. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. in Clinton, Miss.
