JACKSON, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team fell 90-61 to seventh-ranked Union (Tenn.) University on Saturday, Jan. 19 at Fred DeLay Gymnasium on the campus of Union. A pair of Lady Choctaws scored in double figures in the loss led by
Coco Hobson with a season-high 19 points.
Jamilah Sanders added 10 points.

Union placed five players in double figures led by Tiffany Rechis with 22 points. Jada Perkins added a double-double for the Lady Bulldogs with 11 points and 11 assists. Jada Smith finished second on the team in scoring with 18 points followed by Morgan Martin with 15 points. Deja Graves wrapped up the double-digit scorers for Union with 10 points. Smith and Martin each finished two rebounds shy of joining Perkins with a double-double.
Mississippi College 36.1 percent from the field in the game, including a clip of 33.3 from behind the arc. The Lady Choctaws connected on 11-fo-14 from the free throw line for 78.6 percent. Union shot 52.2 percent from the floor and hit 35.5 percent (11-for-31) from the 3-point line. The Lady Bulldogs hit 87.5 percent from the charity stripe.
TURNING POINT
- Mississippi College clipped a 20-point lead in the third quarter to 10 points with a minute remaining in the stanza, but Union responded with a 13-2 run to push the deficit back to 20-plus points, 73-52, over the span of three minutes.
INSIDE THE BOX
- The 90 points are the most allowed by the Lady Choctaws this season and surpassed the previous high of 87 set by West Florida on Jan. 12.
- Hobson's point total marks the third most points scored by a Lady Choctaw this season and one shy of joining Sanders and Lauran Sheriff with the only 20-plus point scoring effort on the team.
- Hobson has scored in double figures in the last four outings as has eight this season, which is second on the team by Zariah Matthews' nine.
- Sanders has scored in double figures in the last three contests. The Canton, Miss., native has seven, double-digit scoring efforts this season, including six of the last seven.
- The Lady Choctaws hit six 3-pointers in the loss, which is tied for a season-high. It marks the fourth time this season the Navy and Gold have hit six treys in a game and the first time since Jan. 12 against West Florida.
- For the ninth time this season, the Lady Choctaws held the advantage on the glass. MC outrebounded Union 36 to 32 in the game.
- After MC trailed by 18 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Choctaws opened the second quarter with a 14-2 run en route to outscoring UU 19-12 in the stanza. The run cut the deficit to six points with six minutes left in the first half.
