LORMAN, Miss. – The Mississippi College volleyball team evened its record with a pair of victories at the Alcorn State tri-match. The Choctaws (5-5) opened with a straight-set win over the host Braves to open the day at the Whitney Complex. The Navy and Gold followed with a four-set win over William Carey.

TURNING POINT
- After winning the opening set 25-19, Mississippi College took a 2-0 lead in the match as it claimed the second set in commanding fashion 25-13. The straight-set victory gives the Choctaws their fourth win in the series with the Braves and breaks a two-match skid against the Purple and Gold.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Freshman Kendall Platt led the offense with a team-best 10 kills. The Anaheim, Calif., native has a team-best seven matches with 10-plus kills this season. Fellow freshman Jamie Boros was second on the team with nine kills in the match.
- With two digs in the match, junior Julia Martin recorded her 300th career dig.
- Autumn Frost tied a career-high with six blocks in the match. The mark tied her effort at Southern Arkansas on Aug. 25. The six rejections was a team-best in the match against the Braves.
- Mississippi College trailed for the first time 15-14 in third set.
- The 11 team blocks are the most this season in single match.
- Rylee Markham distributed a team-best 11 assists in the match.

TURNING POINT
- After splitting the first two sets, Mississippi College claimed a 25-13 win in the third set to take a 2-1 advantage in the match en route to a 3-1 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Platt and Boros led the Choctaws in kills for the second straight match. Platt led the team with 14 kills while Boros chimed in 13.
- Senior Jill Brown finished one dig shy of her season-high with 26 in the four sets.
- R. Markham claimed her fifth match with 20-plus assists as the freshman dished out 20.
- Frost posted her third match with five-plus blocks as she recorded five in the match.
- The victory was the second in program history over William Carey.
- The win is the first, four-set win of the season for the Navy and Gold.
