CLINTON, Miss. – For the first time on the campaign the Mississippi College volleyball team fell in a five set match as Union (Tenn.) University topped the Choctaws (7-8, 1-3 Gulf South Conference). Union improved to 4-13 on the season and 1-3 in the conference.
MC opened the season with a pair of five-set victories at the Dr. Margaret Downing Invitational.
Mississippi College held a 2-0 lead, but witnessed the Lady Bulldogs rally to claim sets three and four and send the match to a deciding, fifth set.

TURNING POINT
Union jumped out to an early 6-3 lead, but the Choctaws rallied to tie the set at 11-all. Union's Meghan Delaney halted the MC run with a kill and placed the visiting Lady Bulldogs on 4-0 run to clinch the match.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Senior Jill Brown pulled within five digs of career 500 in the match with a team-best 24. The 20-dig match is third this season for the Elkhart, Ind., senior and her seventh career.
- Freshman Kendall Platt posted her 11th contest with 10-plus kills – a team-best – recorded her fourth double-double of the season (14 kills, 13 digs)
- Freshman Jamie Boros registered her ninth contest in double figure kills – second most on the team.
- Freshman Gwenyth Prenter tied a season-high in total blocks.
- Sophomore Autumn Frost matched a career-high in solo blocks – a mark set on Oct. 14 last season against Nova Southeastern University. The Largo, Fla., native also equaled a career-high in kills set against the University on Montevallo on Oct. 7, 2017.
- The setback snapped a two-match, win streak for the Navy and Gold.
