Butch Ard, are pleased to release the 2018 cross country schedule, it was announced on Monday, July 23. The slate is headlined by four meets at Choctaw Trails.
"We have great anticipation about the upcoming season. We will have a lot of new faces on the team and are excited to see our progress throughout the season," Ard said. "Our schedule puts us on our home course more this year than normal. Since we are hosting conference this year, we wanted to make sure our newcomers are well acquainted with the course. All of our home meets tend to draw a great number of quality teams, so we will have great competition throughout the season to help make us a better team."
MC opens the season on Friday, Aug. 31 as it hosts the Season Opener at 5 p.m. The meet is the first of the quartet on the home course. The Navy and Gold travels to Memphis, Tenn., for the Rhodes Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 15 and follows with the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday, Sept. 29.
Following the two road meets, Mississippi College returns to Choctaw Trails for three straight, home meets starting with the Watson Ford Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 8 a.m. The Navy and Gold follow with the Mississippi College Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 8 a.m. The final regular season meet, the MC Division II Invitational, is slated for Saturday, Oct. 20 at 8:30 a.m.
The Gulf South Conference Championships are marked for Saturday, Nov. 3 in Clinton, Miss. The Division II South Region Championship is set for Saturday, Nov. 11 in Lakeland, Fla., with the NCAA Division II National Championships set for Saturday, Dec. 1 in Slippery Rock, Penn.
