MAGNOLIA, Ark. --- The Mississippi College baseball team dropped their final non-conference contest of the season in a 5-2 loss at Southern Arkansas on Tuesday night at Walker Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Muleriders (29-15) got the scoring going early with a pair of runs in the first inning, highlighted by a solo home run from Jacob Richardson.
- They would go on to tack on two runs in the third, starting with an RBI single by Richardson.
- SAU would load the bases with no outs in the frame, but junior
Peyton Lott came out of the bullpen and limited the damage, holding the Muleriders to just one more run, making the score 4-0.
- The Muleriders would add another tally in the fifth on a two-out RBI triple, but the MC pitching staff would keep them off the board the rest of the contest.
- MC would remain scoreless until the 8th inning when junior
Ty Alderman hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot, to score junior
Luke Yancey and cut the score to 5-2.
- The Choctaws would bring the tying run to the plate in the 9th inning, but the Muleriders got out of the jam to hold on for the win.

KEY STATS
- Junior
Kyle Smith and Alderman had the only hits of the game for the Choctaws as Alderman tallied his first long ball of the year.
- Junior
Austin Chastang (2-2) took the loss for the Choctaws, allowing five hits and three earned runs over 2.0 innings.
- Lott was impressive out of the bullpen, scattering five hits with five strikeouts over 5.0 innings.
- Junior
Brandon Kennedy tossed a perfect 8th inning to cap off the solid relief appearances for the Choctaws.
- Richardson had four hits to lead the Mulerider offense, while Dillon Lawrence allowed just two hits with four strikeouts over 8.0 innings to collect the win.

- The Choctaws will close out the regular season this weekend when they travel to Cleveland, Miss. to face rival Delta State in a three-game series, starting on Saturday with a doubleheader at 2:00 p.m.
