HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- Sophomore catcher
Brandon Broussard knocked the game-winning home run in game two, helping the Choctaws pick up the 6-5 win and securing the double-header sweep over Alabama Huntsville on Friday, April 13. The Choctaws won game one 12-6.
With the sweep, the Choctaws improve to 26-10 overall, and 15-7 in Gulf South Conference play.
GAME ONE
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Chargers put up runs in their first three at-bats, as they would take a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the fourth.
- The Choctaws would strike for four runs in the fourth, with
Ty Alderman's bases-clearing three-run double serving as the big blow in the inning. Smith would give the Choctaws a 5-4 lead a few batters later, plating Alderman with a sac fly to center.
- The Chargers would use a two-out double to right center to tie the game up at 5-5 in their next at-bat.
- The Choctaws would break the game open in the seventh, as they sent 11 batters to the plate scoring seven runs on seven hits.

Blaine Crim started the scoring outburst in the seventh, with a solo shot to left center for his team-leading seventh home run of the season.

Brandon Broussard would follow up a few batters later, with a single through the left side that plated
Luke Yancey.
- After Alderman reached on an RBI sacrifice bunt,
Dylan Duplechain would connect for a three-run homer to left field, his second of the season, giving MC an 11-5 lead.
- A Crim sac fly that plated
Kyle Smith would mark for the seventh and final run of the inning.
- The Chargers would add a run in the bottom of the seventh, giving way to final score of 12-6
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- The Choctaws outhit the Chargers 18-13 in the game one, highlighted by eight players that recorded a multi-hit effort.
- Crim and Duplechain both logged a team-high three hits in the Choctaws 18-hit effort in game one, while both also recording a round-tripper.
- Alderman drove in a team-high four runs in the game. Duplechain knocked in three Choctaws, while Crim drove in two.
- Alderman, Crim, Wilson, Broussard and Yancey all scored a pair of runs in game one.
- Robby Seeman drove in a team-high two runs for the Chargers, while recording a team-high three hits. Tanner Burns also drove in a pair of runs.
- On the mound, Shelby Carddock (2-0) worked the final five innings of the game to pick up his second win of the season. The junior right-hander struck out four, while allowing just one earned on the day.

Chris Crosby tossed the first four innings of the game, striking out seven and walking just one.
- Tyler Self (4-2) took the loss for UAH, surrendering four earned runs in 1.1 innings.
GAME TWO
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was the Choctaws that struck first this time, with a pair of runs in the first. Smith came around to score on a Crim sacrifice fly, after leading off the game with a triple to center field. A
Luke Yancey single to would plate
Billy Cameron for MC's other run in the inning.
- The Chargers responded with a five-run bottom of the first inning, with four of those runs coming on Charger base hits.
- The 5-2 score would hold all the way up to the seventh inning, which saw the Choctaws rally to score three runs on two hits and one error.
- Barber got the scoring action going in the inning, with a single to left center that plated Duplechain.
- Cameron would reach base one batter later on a fielding error, allowing Smith to score.
- Yancey delivered the hit that tied the game up, as he was able to drive a 2-0 offering to right field and plate Barber.
- Broussard's game-winning blast, his third of the season, came in a 2-1 count to lead off the eighth inning.
- The Choctaws bullpen would go on to successfully hold MC's one-run lead for the win.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- Yancey and Wilson both knocked a team-high two hits in game two, with Yancey driving in a team-high two runs.
- Smith accounted for a team-high two runs.
- Barber, Cameron, Crim and Broussard all drove in a run in the contest.

Austin Chastang tossed three scoreless innings out of the bullpen, while
Brandon Kennedy worked 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.
- Brooks Brophy (5-2) took the loss for the Chargers in game two, working the final two innings of the game out of the bullpen.
UP NEXT
- The Choctaws will look to go for the sweep of the Chargers in game three tomorrow, with first pitch set for 10:00 a.m.
