CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team split a pair of tight games in a doubleheader with Lee University on Friday afternoon at Dickins-Scoper Stadium.
The Choctaws (14-3, 6-2 GSC) came from behind to get a 5-4 win in the first game, while the Flames (10-12, 4-4 GSC) pulled off a comeback of their own in a 10-7 win in the second contest.

MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE 5, LEE 4 (GAME ONE)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Choctaws would jump out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first as junior
Kyle Smith led things off with a double and came home to score on a single by sophomore
Grant Barber.
- MC would push the lead out to 3-0 with a couple of runs in the second as
Brandon Broussard and
Fulton Johnson each crossed the plate.
- The Flames would crack the scoreboard in the fifth inning on a two-out RBI single to make the score 3-1.
- The game was sailing right along until the bottom of the fifth inning when a foul ball went off of the home plate umpire's head and forced him to miss the rest of the game.
- The game would eventually be delayed for 1:40 until a new umpire could arrive and finish the doubleheader.
- Once the game resumed, neither team was able to score until the Flames put up three in the eighth inning to take a 4-3 advantage.
- Peyton Meeker's two-run single brought home the game-tying and go-ahead runs Lee.
- In the ninth, the Choctaws saw their first three hitters reach base with a pair of walks and a hit-by-pitch to load the bases with no outs.
- Blain Crim drove in the game-tying run with a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring
Hunter Sykes from third base.
- The game-winning run would score when the Flames made their eighth error of the night to bring home
Kyle Smith.Â
KEY STATS
- Barber had a team-high two hits, while Smith would lead the squad with two runs scored.

Chris Crosby started on the mound for the Choctaws, allowing just five hits and two earned runs with six strikeouts over 7.1 innings.

Brandon Kennedy (3-0) came out of the bullpen to pick up the win, tossing the final 1.2 innings of the game.
- Tyler Payne and Miguel Pimentel led the Flames with two hits apiece.
- Wes Albert (0-2) took the loss for the Flames, giving up two runs over 1.0 inning.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Flames would jump out to 4-0 lead, scoring a pair of unearned runs in the third to grab the early advantage.
- MC's first run of the game came in the bottom of the third as Crim singled home Barber to cut the lead to 4-1.
- Sykes would drive in a run in the fourth, and a two-run single by
Luke Yancey tied the game after five innings.
- The Flames would respond in the sixth with a couple two-out runs, putting together three straight hits after the first two batters of the inning were retired.
- The Choctaws bounced back themselves in the sixth as Crim singled home Sykes with a single to cut the lead down to 6-5.

Ty Alderman would tie the game on the next at-bat, driving home
Kyle Smith.
- MC would grab a 7-6 lead as
Trey Pittman's infield single scored Crim and appeared to give the Choctaws a chance to sweep the doubleheader.
- The Flames would load the bases with one out, but
Austin Chastang came up big with a strikeout to get the Choctaws just one out away from a sweep.
- On an 0-2 count, Payne came up with a two-run single to give the Flames the lead and another two-run single would give the game its final score.Â
KEY STATS
- Crim led the Choctaws with three hits, while Yancey and Sykes each had a pair of base-knocks.
- Crim and Yancey each drove in two runs, while Barber and Crim scored twice.

Tommy Taborda (0-1) took the loss for MC on the mound, allowing a hit and two earned runs over 0.1 innings.
- Payne led all hitters with four hits and four RBI, also scoring twice on the night.
- Logan Workman (2-0) tossed the final 1.2 innings to get the win for the Flames.Â
