Crim’s Walk-Off Homer Propels Choctaws to Series Win Over Lee

CLINTON, Miss. --- Junior first baseman Blaine Crim launched a walk-off home run in the 9th inning that helped the Mississippi College baseball team knock off Lee University 11-10, and claim the Gulf South Conference series over the Flames on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Choctaws record now sits at 15-3 overall, and 7-2 in GSC play.

TURNING POINT
- Crim's game-winning longball, a towering blast to center field, came on an 0-2 count. A double by Billy Cameron just one batter prior to lead off the inning helped set up the homer.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Six different Choctaws recorded multi-hit efforts on the afternoon, with Cameron, Luke Yancey and Hunter Sykes pacing MC with three hits on the day.
- Sykes, Crim, Ty Alderman, and Fulton Johnson drove in a team-high two runs in the contest, with Crim and Cameron scoring a game-high three runs.
- Ryan Lane (2-0) earned the win in relief. The junior right-hander tossed the final two frames of the contest, striking out two along the way.
- Chase Gauda led the way offensively for the flames, with three runs driven in on the day. Dalton Nay added a team-high three hits and two runs scored.
- David Pattinson (0-2) took the loss for Lee. Pattinson allowed two runs to the only two hitters of the game he faced in the 9th inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Choctaws took the early 1-0 lead in the second inning, when Sykes plated Yancey with a single to right field.
- Lee would respond in the next half-inning, when Gauda launched a home-run to left center that gave the Flames their first lead of the day at 3-1.
- After cutting the score to 3-2 in the bottom of the third, the Flames would tack on another home run, a solo shot from Jordan Howard to put the Flames up 4-2.
- MC would go on to tie the game up in the 5th, courtesy of a two-out single from Alderman that plated Cameron and Crim.
- The Choctaws would add two more in the 6th, courtesy of a Barber sac fly, and a Crim single, to claim a 6-4 lead.
- After seeing the flames tie the game in the 7th, the Choctaws answered back with a run courtesy of a Johnson double down the left field line to regain the lead at 7-6.
- The Flames would go on to take the lead in the 8th, but the Choctaws once again answered back with a two-run bottom half of the inning; with an RBI base on balls from Yancey and a sac fly from Sykes, taking the lead at 9-8.
- Down to their final strike, the Flames took a 10-9 lead on a two-run homer by Spencer Mossberg.
- MC would answer back in the bottom of the 9th, with a leadoff double from Cameron, and the game-winning blast from Crim.
