CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team returns to the diamond this weekend as MC hosts Lee University in three-game, Gulf South Conference series. The weekend's action opens on Friday, March 9 with a doubleheader slated for 2 p.m. The series is slated to conclude on Saturday, March 10 at 12 p.m.
 
STORY LINES & NOTES
• Mississippi College and Lee for the 10th time on Friday, March 9 with the Flames holding the all-time series at 6-3. The Choctaws claimed the series last season as they claimed the first two games (12-1, 6-2) before falling the series finale (5-6). MC has won three of the last five outings.
• With the sweep of Shorter over the weekend, the Choctaws claimed their first, three-game conference sweep since April 1-2, 2017 at Valdosta State.
• Billy Cameron continued his torrid pace at the plate for the Navy and Gold as the junior hit .692 over the three-game span at Shorter. The Mendenhall, Miss., native recorded multiple hits in each game, with a pair of doubles, a homerun and five RBI. Cameron slugged 1.077 with an on-base percentage of .733. Cameron leads the team with a .479 batting average, including 23 hits and four homeruns and 17 RBI.
• Chris Crosby has posted a 1.98 ERA in four starts this season. Crosby leads the team with four wins this season. The Saucier, Miss., native leads the team with 26 strikeouts and has tossed a team-best 27.1 innings on the bump.
• For the first time since 2010, Mississippi College is in the national rankings. The Choctaws entered the NCBWA Division II Top 25 Poll at No. 24.
• Lee enters the weekend series riding a three-game win streak after taking a pair of contests over Bellarmine during the midweek. The Flames claimed the series finale against North Alabama to start the win streak.
• Miguel Pimentel leads Lee at the dish with a .313 batting average. Three Flames are hitting over .300 for the season, including Peyton Meeker, who is tied for Pimentel with 21 hits.
• Pat Morrow paces the Flames' pitching staff. Morrow has 1.27 ERA and is 2-0 on the season in 28.1 frames. Morrow is tied for tops on the team with 33 strikeouts along with Jumpei Akanuma. Akanuma leads the team with 32.2 innings and is 2-1 on the campaign.
